Lyrics

Most of my lyrics were scribbled down on papers, coasters, doodles and whatnot.

It will take some time to type them all out but I will try. I know they all sound boring too, but that’s the way they wrote themselves. They are for any musician or group to use as I have little musical ability. I put them out there and if I hear them again somehow that is payment enough to me.

Angel

Well she’s an angel, and she’s on her way home

There are no paths, but she knows just where to go

Straight ahead leaving memories behind

Go on Angel, well it’s your turn to find

To find your heaven on Earth, your place in the Sun

Go on angel, yes, your time has begun

You are where you are right here and now

So come on spread your wings, and soar into the clouds

Well she’s an angel and she’s on her way home

There are no paths but she knows just where to go

we’ve all been there, maybe you still are

Oh but angel has found her lucky star

She’s an angel and she’s on her way home….

Crazy Little Love Games

Ad. Cont. 1989

Outside my window, the rain begins to fall

And I start to hear that old familiar call

It calls back to me from many miles away

I can tell you honestly, I don’t know what to say

Cause these crazy little love games, they just aren’t right

Though I see you every morning, I see you every night

Well I just can’t go on loving in a way

That makes me stop and think, of where you are today

ohohoh

These crazy little love games aren’t right

I’ll see you in the morning

But you won’t see me tonight, you won’t see me tonight..

1000 Nights.

Ad, Cont. 1991

How come, when I look into your eyes

I can see the stars of a thousand nights

Looking back at me

Tell me now, tell me what you see

What do you dream of

What would you teach me

I’m telling you now the way I feel,

I’ve felt it from the start

And if you don’t believe me girl

Take a good look at my heart

The evidence is clear, I only want you near

To this heart inside of me

So you can teach me how you see

Riding horses through silver streams

Beauty taken from stars that gleam

A picture you could paint for me

A gift of what this all could mean

I’m telling you now the way I feel,

I’ve felt it from the start

And if you don’t believe me girl

Take a good look at my heart

The evidence is clear, I only want you near

To this heart inside of me

So you can teach me how you see…..

In My Dreams

Ad. Cont. 1990

I see you in my dreams every night

I hold my arms out to hold you so tight

I’m going crazy it’s just not fair

Cause all I get is the air

To hold you tonight, not in my dreams

Would mean everything in the world to me

So give me a chance, to give you my love

Let me hold what I’ve been dreaming of

I lay my head on the pillow

Knowing you’re who I’ll see

Cutting through life’s darkness

The girl of my dreams

To hold you tonight, not in my dreams

Would mean everything in the world to me

So give me a chance, to give you my love

Let me hold what I’ve been dreaming of

If this love can’t be real

Please have this part of me

At least you know how I feel

And of all of my dreams….

Where I’d Rather Be

Ad. Cont. 1988

So many times

So many places

So many dreams ago

So many nights I sat and listened on the phone

To your heart

To your laugh

To your dreams

I just don’t know what this love really means.

Does it mean that when I’m with you

Your the only one I see

Does it mean that when you’re far away

That’s where I would rather be

Does it mean that I love you

No matter where you are

Is it that funny kind of feeling

I’m feeling in my heart

If that is what it means, then I love you

Does it mean that when I’m with you

Your the only one I see

Does it mean that when you’re far away

That’s where I would rather be

Does it mean that I love you

No matter where you are

Is it that funny kind of feeling

I’m feeling in my heart

If that is what it means, then I love you

What I’m Not Trying to Say.

Ad, Cont. Duet. 1991

  1. Oh darlin no regrets
  2. Oh honey no remorse

M/F. It just had to be this way

  1. Of course
  1. And though we’ve had our times
  2. And we’ve made it through

M/F. I’m just happy that I shared

  1. A piece of my life with you
  2. If this love is somehow true

M/F. My heart will lead me back to you

M/F. I’m sorry if my love wasn’t there

M/F. I know that you really did care

  1. When you needed me more and more

M/F. We had no idea of what our lives in stored.

  1. I….I’m sorry
  2.                   Oh I am sorry
  1. Oh honey no regrets
  2. And darlin no remorse

M/F. It just had to be this way….. Of course…..

I Wouldn’t Have You

1987

Sometimes late at night, I sit and wonder to myself

Just what it would be like, If I were with someone else

I wouldn’t have you to hold me in your arms,

I wouldn’t be able to see you every night

I wouldn’t be able to breathe any longer

And I wouldn’t see your eyes,

Oh I wouldn’t see your eyes.

In case you someday hear this song

I didn’t wonder very long

Please forgive the thoughts inside of me

It was just a thought you see.

I wouldn’t have you to hold me in your arms,

I wouldn’t be able to see you every night

I wouldn’t be able to breathe any longer

And I wouldn’t see your eyes,

Oh I wouldn’t see your eyes.

What it Does to Me.

Country, Duet 1994

I didn’t understand that look in her eyes,

As she turned around and turned on the lights,

I guess I’ll be sleeping on the couch again tonight.

But no, she says, no she says

Oh honey I know it’s just you being you,

And after all that we’ve been through,

I guess what it is, that I hate the most,

Is losing for that time, you don’t know what it does to me

Oh what it does to me.

I didn’t stand, wished she’d found a better man

I could finally see what she feels for me, and I said,

Oh I said.

Oh darlin I know it’s just you being you,

And after all that we’ve been through,

I guess what it is, that I love the most

Is having you right next to me, of course,

What you do for me, oh what you do to me

As I stood and I took her hand,

I held her close and said I understand

What you mean to me, oh what you mean to me.

I know that it’s just you being you,

And I know it’s just me being me

Two lovers heart entwined ohh eternally….

Because You Understood

Country 2002

The phone rang at the same time, that I watched it on the news,

As I put my little girl to bed, I knew what I had to do,

The nation had been shaken, and duty, it does call

As I look down at that little face, I watch my teardrop fall…

Gently sleep I say as I lay her head down,

Please don’t weep I pray the angels are around,

When you wake let me be there,

A gentle hand to start your day,

But if you don’t hear my voice,

I’ll be with you in other ways,

I’ll be with you when the stars come out at night,

And scare away the monsters,

That fill you full of fright,

I’ll be there when you don’t know what to do,

to point you a direction,

so you may follow through,

I’ll be there when you’re missing me the most,

And smile on down, cause you knew I had to go,

Well I hope I have changed this world a little as I lived,

And that those who remain,

Will still commence to give,

And remember the children that lie in our wake,

Cause sometimes this old world of ours,

Is very hard to take,

I’ll be there when the stars come out at night,

To scare away the monsters,

That fill you full of fright,

I’ll be there when you don’t know what to do,

To point you a direction,

So you may follow through,

And I’ll be there when you’re missing me the most,

And smile on down, cause you knew I had to go,

Away…..

Seventeen:

1986

Ballad

Me and my friend, we were seventeen

We signed our lives away so we could fight for liberty,

We fought on far and distant shores,

Soon we didn’t know what we were fighting for,

And on one cold, dark and lonely night

I heard a bullet pass my head to the right

And as I turned to him as he lay there in the mud

And my tears mixed with his blood, and my tears mixed with his blood.

He said, I fight and kill and know not why, a thousand men should have to die,

For surely there’s a better way to gain the peace in which we pray,

And my only wish to you is find the peace, and find it soon,

For what a price that boys should pay, for growing into men this way,

Find the peace and find it soon, that’s my only wish for you,

For what a price that we should pay for growing into men this way.

I wrote this down that very night, in the glow of a firefight

It lays there with its words to see, in my hand when they find me.

IOU

This is for all of you I’ve known in my life,

For teaching me lessons sometimes more than twice,

Like seeing the world trough someone else’s eyes,

Here’s a little message to you, here’s a little message for you,

Well there’s a little thank you that I need to fill,

An I.O.U. from the heart if you will,

You helped shape this life and I hope you take pride,

That I will pass it down the line,

When I was young I would sit and cry,

When they said I couldn’t do it, you told me they lied,

You said everyone’s soul has wings and can fly

Here’s a little message for you, here’s a little message to you,

Well there’s a little thank you that I need to fill,

An I.O.U. from the heart if you will,

You helped shape this life and I hope you take pride,

That I will pass it down the line,

To everyone I’ll know in my life….

She Cries Easy

Cont:

2012

I met a girl inside a crowded room,

She was trying to find her life

She seemed scared to hear her voice again

Wiping tears from her eyes

She was just being honest

She knows she won’t be the same

Finding that the angels didn’t leave

She found a way to feel again

It’s just one way; she makes it through her days

She cries easy but that’s alright

It’s just one way; she makes it through her days

She cries easy but that’s alright

She’s not alone inside her room no more

She’s not alone inside herself

She’s picking up the pieces of her past

And finding their places on the shelf

She’s not afraid of the things she doesn’t know

She’s okay with all the pain

She knows there are some yesterdays

But she won’t be there again

It’s just one way; she makes it through her days

She cries easy but that’s alright

She cries easy, she cries easy,

She cries easy, but not tonight.

Is Heaven Real

Country

2012

I held his hand, he squeezed mine tight

He’d been crying about his Grampa all through the night,

Here in church, to say goodbye,

He looked up at me with those scared and tired eyes,

He asked me those three words that shook my life,

I just told him the words that felt so right,

Is Heaven real? Is all he said,

And with that everything I ever learned rushed to my head,

But there was only one place for a reply,

So my heart spoke as tears welled up inside

Is Heaven real? Well I don’t know?

I can tell you how I feel, and not much more,

When I lay my head, at night to sleep

I close my eyes, and it’s there I often see,

The ones that passed, oh.. they’re all still there,

They comfort me and guide my simple prayers,

I feel that they are watching over me,

Is Heaven real? I guess that we will see?

He squeezed my hand, and said that’s right,

Grampa told him all of that just last night.

He said when I lay my head down at night to sleep

I’ll close my eyes, and there I’ll often see,

The ones that passed, they’re all still there,

They’ll comfort me and guide my simple prayers,

He hopes I feel that they’re watching over me,

Is Heaven real? I guess that we will see?

But from what I’m told it’s not a mystery…

Is Heaven real? I guess that we will see,

But the way I feel it’s real enough for me…

This is not an anti anything, it is a view of what I see going on these days in the media and society.

Boys

Count:

2015

The times have all changed now, it slipped right on by

The questions are all answered by strangers online

And all of the girls are empowered with joy

But wait a minute now, where are the boys?

They have the same questions, about their young lives

I still see no difference in the hurt in their eyes

But monsters are born with the slip of a tongue

And with all of life’s lessons, it can’t be undone

What are we saying, are they not here too

Were did the boys go, and what did we do

Wash away, wash away, their hearts and minds

Be afraid, be afraid, don’t waste your time

Wash away, wash away, their human pain

Be afraid, be afraid, they’re all the same

Be afraid, be afraid, they’re all the same

So we make sure that our girls are safe and cared for

While boys we make monsters, feared and ignored

The times have all changed now, for this I am sure

But I don’t think this is by far any cure

They have the same questions, about their young lives

I still see no difference in the hurt in their eyes

But monsters are born with the slip of a tongue

And with all of life’s lessons, it can’t be undone

What are we saying, are they not here too

Were did the boys go, and what did they do

Wash away, wash away, their hearts and minds

Be afraid, be afraid, don’t waste your time

Wash away, wash away, their human pain

Be afraid, be afraid, they’re all just the same

Where did the boys go…

What did we do.
